Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then located many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.
An important political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
